Germain brings a remarkable and diverse background in athletic therapy and rehabilitative care, fueled by a passion for helping people move better and live fully. His journey to Vancouver Island is one of dedication, high-level experience, and a desire to connect with a vibrant community.
Germain’s path in health and wellness began after immigrating to Canada from Venezuela at a young age. He pursued his passion at Concordia University in Montreal, earning a degree in Athletic Therapy. There, he gained first-hand experience in the fast-paced world of varsity sport, providing crucial sideline and clinical care for the Concordia Stingers rugby teams.
This foundational experience launched his career and deepened his understanding of injury prevention, emergency response, and proactive recovery. He soon began supporting the next generation of athletes at Lower Canada College, refining his hands-on skills and reinforcing his evidence-based approach to performance and care.
Germain’s expertise and leadership quickly advanced him into senior positions on the West Coast. As Head Athletic Therapist at Capilano University, he became the primary point of care for varsity athletes — from the clinic to the field — ensuring student-athletes performed at their peak and recovered efficiently from injury. He went on to serve as Head Athletic Therapist at Douglas College, further solidifying his reputation within the collegiate sports medicine community. Managing the demands of multiple sports programs has given Germain a holistic understanding of biomechanics and the physical pressures inherent in active lifestyles.
To broaden his impact, Germain spent two years working with residents in assisted living, applying his deep knowledge of musculoskeletal health to help individuals improve mobility, manage pain, and enhance overall quality of life. This chapter reinforced his belief that functional movement and proactive care benefit everyone — from elite athletes to those navigating the challenges of aging.
Drawn by Vancouver Island’s natural beauty and its strong sense of community, Germain has made Nanaimo his new home. When he’s not in the clinic, you’ll find him exploring local trails, kayaking, and embracing the Island’s slower, more connected lifestyle.
Germain’s unique blend of high-performance sport therapy and compassionate community care makes him an invaluable addition to Wildewood Health. His individualized treatment plans are tailored for every mover — whether you’re a weekend warrior, competitive athlete, or simply want to regain daily function and confidence.

I am passionate about holism and creating homeostasis in the body through diet, mindfulness, movement and recognizing that our thoughts shape our physical health. My approach to treatment is based on each individual, working with their past life experiences and their current realities to heal from the inside out. I believe we are all the creators of our own health and with that in mind, we will work together to create a treatment plan to suit your specific needs and limitations at this time.
I am very passionate about women’s health issues, menstruation isn’t something women should have to endure for 40 years, it can be a time of deep connection to our emotional and spiritual bodies when we learn to nurture our natural rhythms. Menopause can be a time of increased self awareness and personal power and through diet and acupuncture the symptoms of hot flashes, insomnia etc. can be greatly diminished or released all together.
Additionally, I am fascinated by the mind-body relationship. Through my education and extracurricular reading I have seen how emotional stress creates room for physical ailments to manifest in the body. I work not only to treat the symptoms of disease but to approach the underlying disharmony that allowed that specific ailment to take hold to begin with.
Acupuncture can treat a variety of concerns, including digestive issues, bloating, water retention, musculoskeletal pain, headaches, insomnia, anxiety, depression, autoimmune disorders, arthritis, menstrual and fertility problems, age-related symptoms, emotional imbalances, memory and concentration issues, and anemia, to name a few. It can aid in weight loss and even improve skin tone. If you would like to know if acupuncture can help you, don’t hesitate to send me an e-mail or book a free 15-minute telephone consult so we can discuss how to best meet your needs.
I began my journey by studying psychology in my late teens. Recognizing I needed more life experience to counsel people effectively, I spent the following several years working in clinical settings and traveling the world. At 28 I enrolled in the acupuncture program at Pacific Rim College in Victoria and graduated a registered acupuncturist. While studying, I learned the 5-element style of acupuncture, the balance method, Mei Zen cosmetic acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, nutrition and diet therapy, and, of course, traditional Chinese medicine.
When I’m not at work or nerding out on new treatment strategies, I can usually be found hiking or gluing bits of things I found in the forest to bits of things I found on the beach and calling it art.
I am passionate about holism and creating homeostasis in the body through diet, mindfulness, mov...

He also treats a number of pre and post-natal patients, as well as athletes and is interested in further education in Graston and Advanced Fascial Stretching. Uttam enjoys working on posture correction and assisting his patients in meeting their goals of being strong, pain free and mobile. She believes in supporting long-term wellness through a proactive approach to health and longevity, rather than waiting for issues to arise. Her goal is to help clients feel their best through consistent, preventative care with a biopsychosocial approach.
She completed her B.A. in Sport, Health, and Physical Education at Vancouver Island University in 2017, followed by the 2200-hour Massage Therapy Program at West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2020. Carleen has also completed Level 1 of The Mastectomy Guide training, allowing her to safely and respectfully offer chest and breast massage.
Carleen now offers hot and cold stones massage in her practice. About Hot and Cold Stone Massage Therapy:
Hot and cold stone massage is a holistic therapeutic technique that combines the soothing warmth of heated stones with the invigorating coolness of chilled stones to promote deep relaxation, improved circulation, and muscular balance. This ancient practice, rooted in various healing traditions, is now widely used in modern massage therapy to address a range of physical and emotional conditions.
Hot stones, typically basalt, are known for their heat-retaining properties and are used to relax muscles, ease tension, and promote blood flow. The penetrating warmth helps prepare the body for deeper manual massage work, making it particularly effective for individuals dealing with chronic muscle pain, stress, or stiffness.
Cold stones, often made of marble, are used to reduce inflammation, soothe swollen tissues, and stimulate the nervous system. Alternating between hot and cold stones—known as thermal or contrast therapy—can help flush out toxins, improve lymphatic drainage, and support faster recovery from injury.
Whether used alone or in combination with other massage techniques, hot and cold stone therapy offers a deeply restorative experience that nurtures both body and mind. Ideal for clients seeking pain relief, stress reduction, or overall wellness, this therapeutic method enhances the benefits of traditional massage while providing a unique and rejuvenating experience.
